Leading experts in ethics, digital technology, law, human rights, as well as experts from Ministries of Health, gathered in order to produce the WHO guidance on Ethics & Governance of Artificial Intelligence for Health.
As new technologies using artificial intelligence offer great promises in the health domain, it is very important that ethics and human rights are put at the heart of the design, deployment and use of such technologies.
The report identifies the ethical challenges and risks linked to the use of artificial intelligence. Experts expressed six consensus principles to ensure AI works to the public benefit of all countries. Recommendations have been made in order to ensure the governance of artificial intelligence for health maximizes the promise of the technology and holds all stakeholders.
